October speaker

Yes, You Can Fence In Your Cat! Local Inventor, Bud Heath to Speak at October Meeting

Bud Heath, a NIA member is marketing his Cat Fence-In System through the internet. A cat fence attachment is an interesting idea and solution to a frustrating problem for many cat owners. Heath's cat containment invention is used by cat sanctuaries and is recommended by animal behaviorists. This system of secured netting has won the Cat Fancy magazine 1992 Editors' Choice Award for best of cat products and the 1995 FELIX Award from the readers of TIGER TRIBE magazine. In addition it has earned a 5paws and 4 thumbs up from CATNIP, a Tufts, University School of Veterinary Medicine magazine. Heath will talk about the inventing process and his marketing strategy. There will be time for questions and discussion with members.

If I Only knew...
by John Whitney

"If I knew ahead of time, really what it took, and was all about l wouldn't have done it " John Whitney, Itronics Corp. CFO and founder, said when speaking about the inventing process that lead to his discovery of 3 applications for photochemical waste.
Whitney's presentation outlined the difficult road he took when he designed, manufactured and marketed products made from reclaimed silver taken from the City sewer plant. His success stemmed from patience and stamina demonstrated by himself; his coworkers and his family during the years of trial and error research and difficult business conditions. Whitney, winner of the 2000 Inventor of the Year Award, is now enjoying thc fruits of his labor, managing a successful business headquartered in Stead. NIA members eagerly jumped into the question and answer period after Whitney's presentation and a vigorous discussion about the nurturing and merits of creativity was sparked.
